Today is not only a special day for Americans, but African-Americans as well. On this day we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the 2nd inauguration of President Barack Obama. Although this country and African-Americans have much more to accomplish, we’ve overcome many obstacles. I never thought I’d see the day this country would elect a black president.
It’s a humble feeling to see it happen twice. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his civil rights movement paved the way, and it’s up to us to cement the future.
I’m beginning to wonder if CNN has developed an urban department at their headquarters because they just granted Nas the highest honor in regards to rap. (more…)
