Why M.I.A Will Take Over The World In 2012

International artist M.I.A was JUST THAT after gaining success from her hit single Paper Planes. Find out why she’ll take the world by storm in 2012!
No One On The Corner Had Swagger Like Her when she broke barriers in 2008. Paper Planes was an international success and earned her global acclaim. At the time the single was already topping the charts, but her notoriety went to another level when Kanye West remixed it for Swagga Like Us.

The song was originally slated for Jay-Z‘s Blueprint 3. He later confirmed that all Auto-tuned songs were removed from the album. It then found a home on T.I.’s album Paper Trail and was the second single released. The record peaked at # 5 on Billboards Hot 100 and was #22 on Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Best Songs of 2008.

The last time we seen M.I.A grace an international stage was at the 2009 Grammys. Not only did she deliver a hit, but looked like she was ready to deliver her child at the same time. At 9 months pregnant, she showed her “Swagger” was on a Hundred-Thousand-Trillion!

It’s three years later and M.I.A will grace yet another international stage (well football field rather) in one of the most watched events in the world. THE SUPERBOWL!
The international pop star will accompany Nicki Minaj performing with Madonna at halftime. The record Give Me All Your Luvin is off Madonna’s upcoming MDNA album. Since it’s posting on YouTube, the video has gained over 2 million views in 2 days.
While Madonna debuted her video, M.I.A dropped hers the same day for her new record Bad Girl. The single is off her upcoming album (slated for release this summer) and was shot in Morroco. The video was directed by Romain Gavras responsible for her last controversial video Born Free.
The video is shot brilliantly and shows M.I.A born Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, illustrating her Middle Eastern pride.

Always one to push the envelope, M.I.A continues to shatter barriers and is one of the most original artists of modern time. I don’t know if the world will end in 2012, but by the end of the year, I expect BIG THINGS for the UK artist!
