Russell Simmons & Kanye West Visits Occupy Wall St
The laundry list of activists, humanitarians, politicians, and rappers continue to grow as more celebrities show up to Zuccotti Park in NYC.
I don’t know what this is turning into but is the Occupy Wall St. moving further away from the cause with numerous celebrity appearances? Today rapper Kanye West joined Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons in support of the movement.
Russell Simmons tweeted, ”Its inspiring to others to see him there. Maybe he and other concerned artist will organize big rally?”
A statement released by his website GlobalGrind.com read:
“It was amazing to see how people loved seeing Kanye West at Occupy Wall Street. His music and his art has always been about the voice and the power of the people. Kanye just wanted to come down and experience the growing movement that has opened the eyes of many around this country and around the world of the struggles of poor people. The energy at Liberty Plaza was electrifying and the momentum to get the money out of politics is growing quickly.”
Some may argue that appearances by politicians and rappers is beginning to look like a publicity stunt, but what do you think? Are they empathetic to the cause or are they bringing more attention to themselves?

It’s 100% for publicity. You think it’s a coincidence that this story is all over the front page of every newspaper. If these politicians, rappers & celebrities really wanted to help out they would put these dumb ass protestors in a shitty hotel and get them the hell off the street so I can walk 2 blocks down Wall street without it taking me 15 minutes…
