Did Yao Ming Retire?
Did NBA BIG MAN Yao Ming retire? Well according to Yahoo Sports he did. But as I’ve learned in the past, the website has a tendency to jump the gun.
You wouldn’t be shocked if the Houston Rockets center Yao Ming called it quits. Yao’s been plagued with injuries for half his career and really hasn’t been a factor for the franchise. According to Yahoo Sports, Yao informed the league office today.
Due to the lockout, there has been no official confirmation on his retirement and no formal statement from the center. This could be a false story run by Yahoo as Yao’s agent Zhang Jiming stated ‘he will not retire from the league.’ He’s been gone so long, I almost forgot he played.
If Yao does retire, he will be one of the last recognizable big men to exit the league. As you guys remembered, Shaq retired a few weeks ago when he made the surprise announcement on Twitter. As for Yao, I can’t say they’ll be big shoes to fill, because they were empty for most of his career!
