James Verone Robs Bank For $1 Dollar
James Verone is a Gaston County, North Carolina resident and this week, he did something rather unusual. Robbed a bank for $1 dollar!
Verone walked into a local RBC bank, gave the teller a note, told her it was a bank robbery, then requested $1 dollar. As he began to leave, he walked back and instructed the teller to tell the police that he would be awaiting their arrival while sitting in a chair.
If you think that was bizarre, his motive may not be. James has a growth of some sort on his chest, two ruptured disks and a problem with his left foot. He is 59-years-old and with no job and a depleted bank account, he thought jail was the best place he could go for medical care.
“(This is the) first time I’ve ever been in trouble with the law,” James Verone said from the Gaston County Jail on Friday. “I’m sort of a logical person and that was my logic. (That was) what I came up with.”
James went on to say that it wasn’t for monetary reasons, rather medical and that he wouldn’t recommend it to others. Staff at the jail’s medical facility said ‘he manipulated the system’ to which he doesn’t disagree.
So I ask,
Has America’s health insurance gotten so bad that this is what our citizen’s have to resort to?
