Chiddy Bang Featured In New Taco Bell Ad
Philly based duo Chiddy Bang has captured the attention of young fans with their rap/rock/electronica sound. They’re beginning to get a lot of attention and are now “Feed The Beat” artists part of Taco Bell‘s marketing campaign!
“Swelly” as described by Chiddy Bang is The Good Life which serves as Taco Bell’s initiative in their new 12 pack taco commercial. The ad was launched last week and Chiddy Bang are the featured “Feed The Beat” artists.
Through a partnership with MTV, the group will reap the benefits of free tacos while on tour. The group will also be performing at this year’s MTV Music Awards.
“Taco Bell has this program that provides artists with food when they go on tour, it’s real dope,” Chiddy Bang member Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin said to Hip-Hop Wired. ”They give you this card that’s just the ultimate black card of doom. It works at any Taco Bell ever in the world. You swipe it and you’re good. You can take the hood out to Taco Bell, and you get everybody for free.”
“And through Feed the Beat we got the chance to do the show. We’re doing a show in Philly tonight that’s gonna be crazy,” Xaphoon Jones said. We’re gonna play, for the first time, some material off the mixtape, and some new singles off the album.”
The group is made up of Chidera (Chiddy) Anamege and Noah (Xaphoon/DJ & Producer) Jones. The duo teamed up while attending Drexel University and was introduced through a mutual friend.
Emcee Chiddy being a resident of New Jersey and Xaphoon born and raised in Philadelphia capitalized on the chance meeting utilizing elements of indie rock and electronica creating the group we know today as Chiddy Bang.
Earlier this year, Chiddy Bang’s Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege also broke the Guinness world record for longest freestyle rap, after freestyling for 9 hours, 18 minutes and 22 seconds during MTV’s O Music Awards.
“I was a little skeptical at first, but everybody knows I freestyle,” Chiddy said of attempting to break the freestyle world record. ”I just thought of it as the opportunity to put myself to the ultimate test. Luckily, we pulled it out.”
Chiddy Bang’s new mixtape, Peanut Butter & Swelly, drops on May 27th, and their debut album,Breakfast, is due out later this year.
