INDIANA STORE OWNER REFUSES TO REMOVE RACIST SOAP!!!
THAT’S IT!!! I’M OFFENDED!!! An Indiana man has come under fire after refusing to remove his racist “Black Soap” which he sells in his antique store. You’d like to think that as a nation we’ve come a long way (considering we’ve elected a black President) however this proves racism is ALIVE and WELL!
Gary Dewester is the store owner who refuses to remove the controversial item from his store shelves. Even with the threat of being put out of business, the owner is defiant and is still determined to sell the product. When confronted by a local news reporter, he argues that customer are buying the soap which he sells at $4 bucks a pop!
The property owner condemned the man for selling the items on his property but that hasn’t stopped him from restocking his shelves. There has been growing support as one woman Carolyn Gentner said she’s brought two bars one labeled ”Kolored Kids” after hearing the story. Her explanation:
“I don’t think they’re offensive, I think they’re nostalgic,” she told Fox59 News. “I believe if this is going to be an issue, we should be in Kroger for selling Aunt Jemima syrup.”
Clay Hicks who is a student from Indiana University and knows the Dewesters personally told local station FOX59:
“They’re good people and they’ve never shown any signs of racism before that any of us have seen,” he said. “The soaps are antiques. He owns an antique store. If he had gone home and made the soaps and wrote racist things on them in his basement and then tried to sell them, that would be a different story but these are antiques.”
Just yesterday I reported the story about the Duncan Hines ad (Read Here) which depicted vanilla cupcakes that began to sing once coated with chocolate. Then a fellow blogger phonznyc.com briefed me about a man who refused to remove a song labeled “no colored allowed”. In my opinion, racism is beginning to get out of control. There’s one thing when you have a freedom of speech, but there’s another thing when your insensitive to race, religion and sexuality.
There’s no excuse on GOD’S GREEN EARTH on why someone should conduct themselves in such behavior. This is an illustration of ignorance at its highest level and should not be tolerated. I’ve been giving these out a lot lately and Mr. Gary Dewester:
