New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested this morning on a drunk driving charge in New York. Edwards was pulled over for having overly tinted windows in his Range Rover. Police smelled alcohol and Edwards blew .16 on a breathalyzer which is twice the legal limit. Edwards, a former first-round pick out of Michigan in 2005, was traded from Cleveland to New York in October after four-plus seasons with the Browns. It appears controversy continues to follow the NFL wide receiver as Edwards was accused of punching a friend of NBA star LeBron James in October 2009, which prompted a trade to the Jets two days later and then pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault in November. Jets executives expressed their disappointment this morning via the following statement:

“We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions this morning. The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment,” going on to say “We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures.”

If you remember just last week other Jets players were involved in a little controversy themselves when they were accused of cat calling Mexican Aztec reporter Ines Sainz in a locker room after practice sessions.

Many criticized the reporter after saying she has been known to wear “skimpy” outfits on a continuous basis. With the topic being left up to debate, Head Coach Rex Ryan immediately apologized for the actions of his players and shunned any inappropriate advances towards any female. Now I’m 100% in compliance with a NO SEXUAL HARASSMENT policy in all work areas, however, I do believe if you want to be treated as a professional, you should dress as one. In such a profession being around men and in their domain, professionalism should be implemented at all times, and what does it say for the countless women who wear the appropriate attire on a regular basis?
